North Vancouver Museum & Archives
The Museum & Archives acts as the “sole custodian of the City and District cultural, archival and museum collections.” The Museum collects and preserves aspects of the material culture of North Vancouver and cares for approximately 20,000 historic artifacts of local and regional importance. The exhibit had a lot of critical components such as the use of various materials and the representation of collections/ art in a consistent manner across media is of utmost importance. This particular exhibit is also a moving one so the element of mobility and ease of removal and reinstallation was a key requirement. Some pieces like the timeline pieces was a collaborative process with the designers, they had a vision and we had to find a way to execute their visions. We prototyped several times until we arrived at a perfect solution for client’s criteria as well as the designers.
